Why not use leather Vegerarians
Most vegetarians who stop eating meat for ethical reasons also take steps to avoid contributing the suffering and death of animals (even insects) in other capacities. For example, a number of vegetarians refuse to wear leather and silk, because they see it as a ethical violation of their respect for all living beings.
Vegetarians who refuse to wear silk argue that the process involves unnecessary cruelty larvae moth. Instead of allowing the moth to grow and leave the cocoon, silk makers boil the larvae alive, causing them to suffer and writhe in order to get more time silk.
Leather, however, does not contribute directly to the suffering of animals in most cases. In most cases, the leather is products derived from animals that were sacrificed for meat, cheese and other animal products.
This is precisely why many vegetarians who have a dilemma ethical meat have no problem using leather: because they see it as the main reason to kill animals, but a byproduct of the slaughter.
Without However, certain groups of vegans are opposed to using leather on the basis that indirectly contributes to the suffering of animals.
These vegans argue that the money contributed companies that own the slaughterhouses (and sell leather products, etc) is as bad as actually buy and eat meat of yourself because I still contribute money to the continuation of institutionalized animal suffering.
This is certainly something to consider if you are currently a vegan or vegetarian for ethical reasons. It may have been difficult to give to meat in the first place, but if you're really committed to the cause and believes that the arguments are strong enough, you may want to avoid buying clothing institutions that will help that cause animal suffering.
